Consulting Engineers Byrne Looby have presented their Options Assessment Report on the rehabilitation of Skerries Harbour to Fingal County Council.

A summary was presented to local councillors at the Balbriggan-Rush/Lusk-Swords Area Committee meeting last week. The presentation can be viewed at  https://fingalcoco.public-i.tv/core/portal/webcast_interactive/800285

Byrne Looby have world-wide experience in the design and delivery of Marine and Coastal Engineering infrastructure projects and were asked to provide design engineering services for the rehabilitation of Skerries Harbour.

Amongst the tasks to be undertaken by Byrne Looby is to design the remediation works at the sheet piled section of Skerries Harbour which was built in the 1960s and which has now reached the end of its design life. It was closed for safety reasons by Fingal County Council earlier this year.

One of the first stages of the project is to assess the design options for the section of the pier to be remediated. This is set out in Byrne Looby’s Options Assessment Report which sets out all options and makes a series of recommendations.
