Do Not Swim Notice extended for Burrow Beach

A Do Not Swim notice was issued 13/06/2023 for Burrow Beach in Sutton and was expected to be active for  three days. This comes after an emergency overflow at Mayne Bridge pumping station due to electrical/mechanical failure and discharge to waters. 

Update 15/6/2023

The current Prohibition (Do not Swim) notice for Burrow Beach, Sutton has been extended for 2 days. An end of incident sample was taken today 15/6/23; results are expected Saturday 17th when the prohibition will be reviewed.

Burrow Beach remains open but beach users are asked to respect the ‘Do Not Swim’ notice as it has been put in place to ensure that the health of bathers is not compromised.

Members of the public can check for water quality at any of the monitored bathing waters in Ireland in advance by accessing the EPA website at www.beaches.ie or by checking the notice board at the entrance to each beach.
