Malahide Demesne Church

Discover the abbey that’s not an abbey, the dog’s head carvings and the woman who was maid, wife and widow in one day! This 3D virtual tour provides access to Malahide Demesne church in the grounds of Malahide Castle. Although traditionally known as Malahide Abbey, there is no evidence that the church site was ever an abbey but was instead a later 15th century manorial church, associated with the Talbot family.

In 2023, generously supported by the Community Monuments Fund, consolidation works took place to preserve the church and graveyard wall into the future. From the sheela-na-gigs to the priest’s quarters, explore all the elements of this fascinating part of Fingal’s medieval heritage.
